Provider Spotlight: A Q&A with Taylor Holt, PA

She continued on to earn her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies at East Carolina University. Taylor has a passion for women’s health and patient care for all her patients at Reach Fertility. We want you to get to know her a little better so we asked a few questions! Get to know Taylor!

Q: How long have you been with Reach Fertility?

A: 5.5 years

Q: Do you have any areas of particular interest or specialties?

A:Third party reproduction with a special focus on our LGBTQIA+ community

Q: What are some of the most important things you want to share with patients the first time you meet them?

A: I want them to feel accepted and understood the first time I meet them. Meeting with a provider and discussing an emotional topic such as difficulty conceiving can be intimidating. I want them to feel welcome and have a safe space to openly talk about their infertility.

Q: Can you give us an example of a patient you helped that really stuck out as special to you?

A: I have a particularly special patient that her fertility story is still being written, but over the years of helping her we have formed a great bond with the common goal of helping her build her family. We have had a lot of hard conversations yet her determination and positive attitude inspires me as a provider. I know one day we will help her to her goal of having a family and I can’t wait to celebrate that good news!

Q: What is a common misconception about fertility treatment you hear from patients?

A: That there is a high risk of twins, triplets, etc. Some people are fearful of fertility treatment because they are nervous that they will be at risk for multiples. With IUI twin rates are only about 8-10% and with IVF they are even lower if you put 1 embryo in, around 1%.

Q: What is something unique about you?

A: I am one of those crazy people that works out at 5 AM. And before you ask, yes it is miserable getting up that early 😉 But it does start my day in a positive way!

Q: What do you like to do outside of work?

A: My favorite things to do are cook, read, and travel. I am a big fan of Half Baked Harvest and Defined Dish recipes and I am constantly looking for new recipes to try. I am always reading romance, thrillers, psychological thrillers and self-help books. I typically read about 4-6 books a month because I get addicted and read them so quickly. I spend my PTO days traveling the world and recently went to Portugal and Spain. There truly is nothing like exploring a new place with your best friends.
