Hysterosalpingogram (HSG)

Dr. Daniel Whitesides and Dr. Joseph Whelan explain what HSG is and when it would be used.  A hysterosalpingogram (HSG) is an X-ray test that looks at the inside of the uterus and fallopian tubes, as well as the areas around them. During a hysterosalpingogram (HSG), a dye is injected vaginally through a thin tube into the uterus which then flows into the fallopian tubes.  X-ray pictures are taken as the dye passes through and reveals any problems such as injury, abnormal structure, or a blockage.
