Did you know that breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women and is the second leading cause of death among women? The month of October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and a great opportunity to bring much-needed awareness to this disease as well as stress the importance of early detection.

Paint with a Purpose Fundraiser Brunch Bar: Who doesn’t love brunch? Better yet, a brunch that includes a sip and paint session! Grab your girlfriends for a fun outing that also raises money for breast cancer research. ‘Think Pink’ at the FLO Bar & Lounge, October 21, 12pm to 3pm.
Making Strides of Greater Charlotte 5k Walk: “No one walks alone.” Support this great cause, and join survivors, caregivers, fighters, and all others who walk to save lives from breast cancer. This is a fun 5k that includes a down and back on the ½ mile zMax Dragway and crosses over the pedestrian bridges to the Charlotte Motor Speedway for a great photo op with the speedway in the background! zMax Dragway at Charlotte Motor Speedway, October 21, registration opens at 8am, walk starts at 9:30am.
Bling & Things Fight Against Breast Cancer: Shop till you drop at the Bling & Things Event where a portion of vendor proceeds will go towards the Susan Komen Foundation. Here’s a tip…don’t forget to grab the awesome swag bag! Xclusiv Salon, October 28, 2pm to 5pm.
Novant Health Breast Imaging & CycleBar Waverly Charity Ride: With a donation of just $25, cycle for charity at this great event. All donations will go towards the Novant Health Cancer Center to provide mammograms for uninsured women. CycleBar Waverly, October 28, 12pm to 1pm.
“The Breast Hair Show Ever”: Hosted by the Aveda Institute of Charlotte, expect a stylish, fun night of all things fabulous while also supporting a great cause. Celebrate this year’s theme - Michael Jackson - and enjoy a night out with the ladies! Tickets are $15 in advance and $25 at the door with all proceeds going towards breast cancer research.
